10/02/2012

Hello Everyone,

I received an important email from our Department Chair Fred Julian yesterday that stated the following information.  It appears that students will no longer be able to retake our laboratory classes if they pass the course with a grade of “C” or above.  I know that we have been able to do this for the last few years but, this no longer seems to be the case.  It looks as if this new  ruling begins now and will be enforced at the beginning of the Spring 2013 semester.  This change only affects the 161M,162M,171,172,181M and the 182M classes.  These classes will now be looked at in the same way as our Lecture/ Laboratory classes 140, 150, 160M, 170, and 180M.

I will let you know if there are any updates to this, but for now please plan on the fact the ability to repeat the laboratory classes after receiving a passing grade of "C" or above will not be possible.

Jack Bollinger

Fall 2014 Enrollment Information:

07/17/2014:

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying having some time off, I think that we are having a great Fall semester.

For those of you who will be returning you should already have an idea of which classes you will be enrolling in.For those of you that are new to the program please read all the information below, it should help you get enrolled in the correct classes.  In some of the areas I am using some of the previous semester information as some of the information for the Fall semester is not available at this time.  My assistant Joshua Perry should be in T-103 over the break, he can answer most questions that you may have, stop by and see him if you have any questions, or call him at (619) 388-3659.  He may not be able to hear the telephone when you call.  I will be unavailable most of the break so Joshua is the best person to contact.
Joshua's district email is: JPerry@SDCCD.edu, stopping by is probably the best option. Joshua's hours are normialy 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday thru Friday, he may step out for a few minutes during the day, just knock at the door at T-103.

Classes will fill very quickly especially the first semester classes. If a class is full be sure to put your name on the wait list, as we normally take additional students on the first day of class, we will take students from the wait list before we take students who only show up the first day of class.  If you can not get on a wait list be sure to keep checking on the district web site to see if any openings have become available.  Please read all the information below, it may be helpful to you.

Best of luck getting into the classes you desire, and I will see you the first day of class.
We will not have any add codes until the first day of class.

Here is a video that should help you with the information for your classes, also please read all the information below. Video is here (This is an older video 11/22/2011, but it should be helpful)

I am providing a list of the classes that we recommend for our first semester students, those of you who are already here should talk to your instructor for recommendations.

As you all know the state budget is in very bad shape once again and the school will be looking at classes with low
student numbers to close, to save money.

It is very important that you sign up and pay for your classes as soon as possible. When you sign up for a class you only have 3 working days to pay for the class, or you will be removed from the roster, and replaced by someone who is on the wait list. If you try to sign up for a class and the class is filled, put you name on the wait list, if the wait list is filled then show up for the first class and try to get an add code.

DO NOT wait until the first day of class to sign up for class, if you do you may find that the class has been closed
because of low enrolment, or you may not be able to get an add code because the class is full.

Another development is the possibility that the school may not allow us to add students into classes on the first days of class. Last semester we had to turn away students from the Machine Technology Program because classes were filled as of the first day of class.

Here is our recommended class schedule for the First Semester Students in the Machine Technology Program, if you cannot take all the classes we recommend at one time then take as many as possible.
Please be advised that some of the class time may be adjusted by a few minutes when the final schedule is published.
The CRN Numbers are not available at this time.

Hello Everyone,
Grades:
I hope you are going to enjoy your time off.  Some of you have contacted me on how to find out what your final grade is for the classes you have completed.  You will have to log into your E-Grades account to see your final grade.  It will take the school some time before this process is completed.

Some of our computers in T-103 and T-212 are showing computer viruses, these are coming from the outside.
If you have virus scanning software please check all you memory devices, if you don't have virus software I would recommend at least downloading the free version of Avast, in addition you can run the online free version of Trend Micro's House Call, here is the link http://housecall.trendmicro.com you can access this at school.
