To All Students:

This is your student information booklet, the information enclosed in this booklet applies to all our classes unless otherwise stated.

Welcome to the Machine Technology Laboratory at San Diego City College. You have choosen a very interesting field of study. Many of you are completely new to this type of enviroment so I thought I would create this handout to answer some commonly asked questions.

In the Spring semester of 1996 we experienced a huge amount of growth, many of you may have been here to witness it. We may have as many students this semester as then. Because of this we are going to have to all work a little harder, a little smarter and as a team. Everyone who is in a class has a schedule to follow, you have scheduled lecture times, and scheduled laboratory times. We will follow the scheduled times. There will not be enough equipment to allow anyone to come in out of their scheduled times, please don't come in if you are not scheduled to be here. We do not have enough time as it is without taking the time to figure out who should be here and who shouldn't.

Bar Codes:

All students will be issued a barcode to track their laboratory times make sure you barcode in and barcode out of class as required. We will let you know how to identify yourself when you are at a computer. Barcodeing in someone else is a serious offense, this is fraud. If you forget to barcode in or out of thr Lab. you will receive one hour credit for the day.

Laboratory Attendance:

We will use the barcode reader to track your laboratory hours, if you fall behind more then 10% we will drop you at the next scheduled drop date. You will not be able to make up missed laboratory time so don't fall behind with your hours. We will probably have a verbal role call as well as using the barcode system. If you forget to barcode in or out you will only receive 1 hour for the session.

Laboratory Usage Policy:

The computer laboratory (T-104/T-105) is the most advanced CAD/CAM laboratory we can develop, it is much more advanced then anything you will find anywhere else. The laboratory will be used heavily, because of that we all have some basic rules that everyone has to follow. If you have any questions about these rules please ask for clarification.
